  Nanty Trip 9/21
Posted by: Darren Price - 11 hours ago - Forum: ETWC Posts/Threads - No Replies

I will be leading this weekend's beginner's trip which will take place on the Nantahala River in western NC.   The plan is to meet at the Patton's Run put-in by 11:00 am.  Boats will be unloaded and the shuttle will be run.

If you plan to participate (beginners and experienced boaters alike) PLEASE communicate your intentions (no later than Thursday evening) by replying to this email, posting on the form or by text (865) Seven 42-4136.   If no interest is shown, the trip will likely be cancelled.

If the trip is a go, there will be a group meeting at Fort Sanders West at 8:00 AM to carpool to the Nantahala.  We usually remain at the NOC after the trip is complete to eat dinner and as such we get back late (typically 9:00 PM).

A couple of notes for boaters who have never paddled the Nantahala, the water is cold and unlike the Hiwassee, most of the paddling is in the shade.   Regardless of the air temperature, warm clothing is necessary.  Secondly, all boaters must have a river pass.  River passes can be purchased at various outfitters or the NOC.  Prices have increased from last year, I know the season pass is $10, not sure about the day passes (last years cost $1 that has likely increased to $2).  The carpool group will stop and purchase river passes prior to arrival at the Pattons Run put-in.

Thanks,
Darren Price

You are invited to get naughty on the Nanty with Mary Misulich and Donna Price on Saturday the 17th.  We will meet at Patton’s Run put-in at 11:00 to unload and then run shuttle.

This trip is a go!  If you want to participate (beginner and experienced boaters alike)
Please communicate your intentions or questions by phone/text to Eight 65-Eight 03-Seven 029, or email mamisulich@gmail.com.

Dress warm.  We plan to work the river.  The water is cold and river is often shaded.  Come dressed to get wet, improve your skills, and have fun.  Also,  everyone will need a river pass
that can be purchased at the NOC or other outfitters.  Plan to join us for dinner at the NOC afterwards.

Let me know if you need to carpool.  Some options MAY include:
Kroger’s in Oak Ridge @ 8:00
Fort Sanders West @ 8:30
Foothills Mall in Maryville @  8:45 near the traffic circle

Hope to see you!
